Frequently Asked Questions

Where are private sessions held?

First Session is always at your home, then follow up sessions either at your home again or at a local dog park, depending on what behaviours we are working on.

Do you provide written training plans?

Yes. After your session, you’ll receive a clear written plan with step-by-step guidance so you can continue training confidently.

How many sessions will my dog need?

It depends on your goals and your dog’s needs. Some families find one session with a written plan is enough, while others book a package of sessions for ongoing support.

What behaviours do you work on in private sessions?

Private training is fully tailored, so we can cover almost any behaviour that matters to you and your dog. Common areas include:

  • Toilet training – setting up a routine and preventing accidents in the home.

  • Crate and independence training – helping your puppy or dog settle alone without stress.

  • Pulling on lead – teaching calm, loose-leash walking for enjoyable outings.

  • Recall – coming when called, even around distractions.

  • Jumping up – learning polite greetings with people and guests.

  • Biting and mouthing – redirecting puppy play into appropriate outlets.

  • Overexcitement around people or dogs – building calm focus and impulse control.

  • Reactivity – barking, lunging, or growling on walks or at home.

  • Anxiety and fear-based behaviours – supporting dogs who struggle with separation, new places, or loud noises.

  • General manners – settling on a mat, waiting at doors, and being calm in everyday life.

Every session includes a step-by-step plan, practical demonstrations, and strategies you can continue at home.

How many puppies are in each class?

Our classes are kept small, usually 4–6 puppies. This means your puppy gets plenty of individual attention while still enjoying the benefits of a group setting.

How long are the classes and how many weeks do they run?

Each class runs for about 1 hour. Our puppy school is a 4-week program designed to cover all the foundation skills your puppy needs.

What if my puppy is shy, nervous, or very excitable?

That’s okay! Every puppy learns at their own pace. We adjust the training to suit your puppy’s personality and comfort level, making sure it’s always a positive experience.

What happens after Puppy School?

After graduation, you’ll have a puppy with a strong foundation in manners and social skills. Many families then move on to private training for more personalised support, or continue training to advance their dog’s skills.
